Save Money:

1. Be Organized and prepared. This is the single most important thing you can do.

2. Put any items or boxes you wish to move yourself in a specific location and make sure the area and boxes are marked clearly. Put a sheet of paper on the wall words "Do Not Pack." Also, feel free to point this area out to the driver.

3. If you have packed boxes yourself, place them in the garage or another central area that is easy to access by the moving crew.

4. Empty the attic before Moving Day. Although your Move it Now crew will be happy to move attic contents, moving items from the attic is often time consuming.

5. Make sure the movers have room to work efficiently. Typically, large items like sofas and china hutches will need to be packed first, so make sure that there are unobstructed paths to the doors of your home.

6. If Move It Now is packing your kitchen, be sure there is a clean, flat surface available to pack your glassware and be sure to separate breakables from the plastic items.

Packing Tips:>

1. Don't over pack boxes. A good rule is; the heavier the item, the smaller the box.

2. By packing several weeks in advance you won't become overwhelmed as moving day approaches.

3. Important legal documents, valuables and family medical records should be transported by you.

4. Hazardous material—by State law—can't be transported in our trucks.

5. Wrap small items, like knickknacks, in colored tissue paper to prevent them from becoming lost in the packing materials.

6. Don't mix items from different rooms in the same box.

7. Label boxes on top and sides as they are packed. The movers can readily see where their favorite things are.

8. An "Essentials Box" — packed with toilet paper, soap, towels, toothpaste and brushes, paper towels, paper plates, cups, utensils, snacks, coffee pot, clock radio, remote controls, a basic tool kit, etc. — should be loaded lastly on the truck so they'll be available promptly at your new home.

9. Unpack breakables over a padded surface — if you drop an item it will have a softer landing.

10. Dishes should be always be packed on edge – not flat stacked. Each dish should be packed in paper or bubble wrap. Wrap cups and glasses in paper and cushion with dish towels, pot holders or paper when packing in cartons.

11. Lampshades should be packed in towels, bubble wrap or plain paper (newspaper ink can stain) and should be in the same container with other lampshades.

12. When disassembling furniture place hardware in a plastic bag and tape to the underside of the furniture or place in a drawer. Don't tape drawers shut, since it can easily remove the finish when it's peeled off.

13. Boxes must always be taped on the bottom, rather than interlocking the ends together. All boxes must be closed and have flat tops so they can easily be stacked on the truck.
